Job Description
Position Summary:
The IT Financial Analyst is responsible for the oversight and administration of departmental expenses, forecasting and budgeting.
The ideal candidate for this position should have general accounting and financial knowledge, as well as demonstrated experiencing partnering with vendors and across functions to complete tasks.
Responsibilities:
The IT Financial Analyst's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assist IT leadership with the creation and maintenance of expense budgets, forecasts and monitoring of spending against plan
Provide expense analysis and projections to assist management with cost control
Serve as a liaison between IT leadership, project management, finance, and accounting
Gather, analyze, and submit recommendations for financial plans and operating forecasts
Define and establish operational and financial metrics for the IT function
Review and track all IT-related invoices to ensure accuracy prior to submission for payment processing
Track and monitor monthly expenses to ensure all invoices are properly coded, submitted and processed to ensure ongoing connectivity and operation; develop and maintain forecasting reports related to monthly expense management
Serve as primary contact for all IT finance related requests/inquiries/questions, and maintain a high level of expertise in all IT financial aspects
Work collaboratively with others to achieve goals, simplify processes, reduce costs, prevent loss, and to ensure that work is completed accurately and on time
Coordinate directly with vendors to resolve problems and foster a positive working relationship
Manage all vendor files and purchase orders
Maximize value received from vendors through relationship management, contract management, and cost controls.
Review contracts, monitor expiration dates, and assist in the contract renewal process; utilize data to forecast ongoing contract expenses
Coordinate with others in the IT department to ensure changes (additions/cancellations) are appropriately
managed (including additions to accounts and disconnects to circuits, telecom services, etc.)
Partner with the general ledger accounting team to ensure accuracy of expenses, appropriate classification of accounting codes, and creation of accounting units for capital projects
Manage coordination and billing of IT-related products including individual WebEx accounts, conference lines and air cards
Coordinate with IT contractors to submit weekly timesheets for payment
Ensure departmental inventory list is up-to-date and accurate at all times
Identify opportunities to control costs and reduce expenses.
Other duties, as assigned
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field (equivalent years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree)
1+ years of experience in an accounting or finance function preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of accounting and billing systems
Vendor management experience preferred
Proficient working knowledge of GAAP accounting standards
Able to collaborate and drive IT finance concepts (orally and in writing)
Proficient in Microsoft Office, with a strong working knowledge of Excel required
Experience with Telecom billing systems / portals, Lawson Accounting software (or similar systems), and basic to intermediate knowledge of the IT function highly desired
Ability to build and leverage internal and external relationships, strong attention to detail, and a sense of urgency
